MY STORY
Adventures In Audio
Alan Venitosh has been a recording and audio engineering enthusiast his entire life and is an expert of microphone technique and application.
As a child he was fascinated by the vinyl to cassette transfer process he would watch his father do countless times on the home stereo. The liner notes of his record collection were his first obsession, where he would read all about the recording engineers, tape operators, executive producers and guest musicians.
Spending time as a touring musician in his late teens and early 20s, Alan experienced both sides of the glass in the recording studio environment, acting as both performing musician and audio engineer. Alan graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Music Production & Technology from the Hartt School of Music at University of Hartford in 2002.
His experience in music retail and interest in electrical engineering lead him to his position at TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik, manufacturers of some of the world’s finest vacuum tube based microphones.
His current role as Director of Operations finds him participating in the development of new microphone technology, as well as forensically looking to the past for historic European microphone design. In 2022, the company took home its fifth TEC Award, its ninth nomination in 20 years.
Since 2002, Alan has participated in recording sessions, lectures and promotional events at the following venues: Abbey Road Studios (London), Real World Studios (UK), Avatar Studios (NYC), Power Station (NYC), Studio Paradiso (San Francisco), SXSW (Austin, TX), Sound Emporium (Nashville, TN), NAMM (Anaheim, CA), Audio Engineering Society Conferences (NYC, LA, San Francisco), Germano Studios (NYC), Sweetwater Studios (Ft Wayne, IN), Dirt Floor Studios (Haddam, CT), Blackbird Studios (Nashville), Bedrock LA (Los Angeles) Duquesne University (Pittsburg), American University (Washington, DC), The Musicians Institute (Los Angeles), Tamalpais Research Institute (San Rafael), Trey Anastasio’s Barn (Essex Junction, VT) and TELEFUNKEN Soundstage (South Windsor, CT).
In addition, Alan has overseen the multitrack audio recording and stage production for events and festivals including the Litchfield Jazz Festival, Podunk Bluegrass Festival, and the Hike To The Mic Music & Arts Happening.
